im trying to upgrade my hdd but it wont work. Its saying insert storage media that contains update data of ?
2.53 or later. And i have the right 250gb hdd.
What you need to do is, get a USB flash drive that has at least 120 MB of free space, plug it in to your computer, then go to the official Playstation website. After that, find the link that takes you to the latest system update ( I'll post it in my answer for your convenience) and download it to your computer.
After that, create a file on your USB flash drive named "PS3", and another one within that named "UPDATE" ( yes, you have to type all caps), and save the system update data to that folder.
Put the flash drive into one of the USB ports of the PS3, and the rest should be pretty self-explanatory from there
