does anybody know if i can use an apple studio LCD display m7649 with a G5 power mac?
I've got apple studio display that i want to use with a G5 tower..there is an adapter that i can buy to connect the two but I'd rather not spend the money if they are not actually compatible
If the G5 Power Mac has only DVI ports on it's graphics cards, you can buy this:

to connect the two.
Some graphics cards for the G5 Power Mac had ADC connectors, so be sure to check that.
