Cricut Purchase:Worth the Money?
I want feedback from people who've actually used or own a Cricut. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the expensive. With CM phasing out it's Alphabet stickers, I'm in dire need of finding a substitute. I found the Cricut at a website for a really good price. What I want to know is does one HAVE TO use specifically Cricut/Provocraft paper or can I walk into any craft store, buy scrapbook paper and use that? Also, what is the general feel on this product? Does you guys like it? What's your opinion? Anything you can tell me would be useful here and therefore, there is no wrong answer.
Your answers are all brilliant and certainly make me feel better about making a purchase. Props to Erin - I have come across customcrops.com and theirs is the best price option I've seen so far. Right now, it's $279 for the Expressions with two cartridges of your choice!
I have both the little Cricut and the Cricut Expression and I LOVE them both. You can use any brand of paper with them, and in reply to the person who said her sister in law has the complaint about it not cutting through some cardstock, she probably does not have the correct blade or have the correct pressure setting on it. You can buy a deeper, thicker blade to go with it, but typically just changing the pressure setting will allow it to more easily cut through cardstock. Besides just cutting through paper, the Cricut will cut through vinyl and double sided tacky sheets available from Stampin' Up or Oriental Trading. The use of these things make is possible to do home decor or use glitter, beads, flock, etc. Either one is well worth the money and Cricut cartridges sell for good prices at customcrops.com
